Thresholds

Circular Doorway Exterior

The threshold doesn't change you. It reveals you.

At the Point of Transition

For a new life stage, a career change, a divorce or separation, a loss, the end of a chapter, a major decision, or starting something of your own.

Do you recognise this?

  • A divorce or separation has altered the ground beneath you.

  • A career or a role has been outgrown, or has quietly come to an end.

  • A new life stage is beginning, and the old ways of organising your life no longer fit.

  • A loss has changed what matters, and what comes next has not yet taken shape.

  • Something still functions outwardly, yet has lost the meaning it once carried.

  • An important decision is approaching, and the available options do not seem to contain the whole question.

  • You want to build something of your own, but its shape is not yet clear.

You may already understand the facts. What often remains is seeing how the parts relate: what your experience shows you, and where you stand.

What is Thresholds?

Thresholds is a structured reflective space for people navigating significant transitions. It offers time to live and understand a transition without being hurried toward an answer.

A transition may begin because a chapter is completing, something new is becoming possible, or an important decision is opening unfamiliar territory. Sometimes the change is already visible. Sometimes it is only beginning to be felt.

This in-between time can feel uncertain because what follows is not yet visible. It can also be generative. When momentum slows, experience can be seen differently and integrated more fully.

Orientation does not come from knowing what to do. It comes from recognising where you stand. The work is deep without being heavy: there is room for silence, humour and careful questioning.

Thresholds follows a careful sequence through the territory of transition. It is not a formula to complete, but a way of giving language to what unfolds when there is time to attend to it.

  • Recognising what has already shifted.

  • Seeing where familiar reference points have reached their limit.

  • Pausing habitual movement long enough for perception to widen.

  • Integrating what experience already holds.

  • Recognising a clearer place from which to speak, decide or act.

  • Allowing movement without requiring complete certainty.

Ways to experience Thresholds

Online Programme

Some questions only become clear in the presence of others facing the same territory.

Alongside dialogue and reflective enquiry, optional symbolic or nature-based practices may be included.

The programme unfolds through six live online gatherings, held in confidence. The time between sessions leaves room for observation and for what emerges through the work.

Available in English, German and Spanish.
Six weeks · Live online · Maximum twelve participants

Each cohort is intentionally small: twelve is the number at which the quality of attention this work requires can be maintained. Dates for the next cohort are announced in advance.

 In Person

Three days.

A concentrated time together, for sustained attention, shared enquiry and integration.

Locations and dates are announced for each weekend.

Private

Thresholds Private is a confidential, one-to-one accompaniment for situations that call for continuity and complete privacy. Some transitions are too specific, complex or personal for a group setting. The work remains entirely between two people, within a relationship that can hold what unfolds over time.

The work follows the same principles as the programme.

Duration, continuity and attention are shaped around your particular situation.

Particularly suited to major personal transitions and difficult decisions.

Who this is for

For people willing to look closely at their own situation. Many arrive having already done a great deal of thinking, reading or inner work, and sense that something essential is still waiting for words. Not for those looking for quick answers, a fixed method or a spectacular experience.

What becomes possible

People often describe a clearer, more grounded relationship with their own experience.

  • A view of what is completing, what fits differently and what may be beginning.

  • A settled sense of your own ground.

  • Greater access to what you actually know, separate from what others expect.

  • A position from which a decision or a new direction can take form.

Meaning, judgement and direction remain with you.

Relationship, Reciprocity, and Ayni

What begins to emerge does not develop in isolation. It enters into relationship: with people, with circumstances, with nature, and with the wider world.

Within the Andean worldview that also shapes this work, Ayni names a living quality of reciprocity. It invites attention to the relationship between a person and life: what is received, what is given, and what asks for response.

In Thresholds, Ayni is present as a guiding principle.

Where appropriate, symbolic or nature-based practices informed by these traditions may be included and are shared with respect for their cultural origins and in support of individual autonomy.
No prior familiarity with Andean traditions or spiritual frameworks is required.

What people say

""A naturally deepening path of aligning with yourself.
My own presence, my own inner voice, my own desire, my own core, my essence — welcomed to speak up not from pressure but from love and sacred witnessing.""

How Maria Clara works

Maria Clara brings a precise quality of attention to each encounter, rather than a method to apply.

Her way of working begins with what is already present: what the person brings, senses, or has not yet found language for. She listens beyond the presenting question.

She holds the specific and the wider picture at once, noticing relationships, tensions and patterns that are hard to see from inside a situation.

People describe her accompaniment as warm and unhurried. Her questions tend to open space rather than narrow it.

The work moves at the pace of what is real.

Before It Had a Name

Maria Clara has worked with individuals and groups across cultures, languages and life circumstances, from one-to-one work to cohorts of more than one hundred, online and in person. She has held senior teaching and faculty roles in international educational institutions. → Knowledge

Her work includes professional reinvention, profound personal change and moments that call for orientation. The work has also crossed her own life, which gives it a particular congruence.

This territory was present in her work long before it had a name. Across many years, one way of working became clear. That way of working is Thresholds. It is built from the convergence of lived experience, reflective practice, perceptive attention and relational ways of knowing, and it keeps developing with every person she works with.
