A Living Tradition of Relationship and Reciprocity
Some questions are not answered by thinking alone. They invite us into a different kind of relationship: with what we give, what we receive and what we truly need.
In the Andean tradition, life itself is understood as relationship. Human beings, nature and the living world are not separate; they take part in a continual exchange. Ayni, the principle of reciprocity, speaks of the quality of that exchange: how we give, how we receive, and how we take part in the whole of life.

Ayni is not so much an idea to be understood as a way of living.
It unfolds through three interconnected dimensions of human participation:

Llank’ay · purposeful action
These dimensions meet in the way we perceive, relate and act. Ayni invites attention to the quality of that meeting.
Haywarikuy
Sharing with the Sacred
Haywarikuy is the Quechua word for an offering, also known as a Despacho: a ceremonial gesture of gratitude and reciprocity, and a living expression of Ayni.
Natural and symbolic elements, each carrying its own meaning, are placed with intention within an ordered ceremonial form. Together they become a living prayer, a conscious way of entering into relationship with Pachamama, the Apus (the sacred mountains), the ancestors and the living cosmos.
Yet the ceremony is not only about what is offered. It invites us to notice what we give, what we receive and what we truly need. As order takes shape within the offering, something within us may also find its place.
Encountering the Tradition
This work can be encountered in different ways: through ceremony, through an individual session around a question that matters to you, or through a seminar.
Haywarikuy · Individual Ceremony · 90 minutes
A Haywarikuy may be created to give thanks, mark a beginning or completion, honour the ancestors, accompany a transition, or hold an important relationship, question or intention.
We begin with a conversation about what brings you and what you wish to offer. Together, we prepare the Despacho element by element, attentive to the meaning and placement of each. As the offering takes form, your intention may take form with it.
Once complete, the offering is given to the elements according to the ceremonial context, and the session closes with a moment of quiet reflection.
Ayni Session · Individual · 60 minutes
In this session, we explore the question or life transition you bring through Yachay, Munay and Llank’ay. Together, we look at how these dimensions relate to one another, and what becomes visible when they are seen through the lens of Ayni.
The session offers a quiet, attentive space, held with warmth, simplicity and respect for your own interpretation.
Individual Session · 120 minutes
Mapping · Andean Practice · Integration
An extended session that unfolds in three movements, with time for what you bring.
We begin with the question or situation you bring, allowing enough time to see it from different perspectives and, where appropriate, to work with it through Andean symbolic practice.
Mapping. Through conversation and metaphor, we gently bring into view where you stand in relation to your question: the patterns, relationships and larger landscape around it, including connections that are not yet apparent.
Andean Practice. Where it feels right, symbolic or ceremonial elements offer another way of approaching what has come to light.
Integration. Together, we bring what has emerged back into everyday life. Simple practices or rituals may accompany you as you carry it forward in your own way.
Seminar Series · Andean Wisdom in Contemporary Life
The seminars offer time to go deeper into Andean principles and ceremonial practice, through teaching, dialogue and shared experience.
Each weekend is complete in itself, while forming part of a larger journey: from foundational practice to symbolic language and our relationship with the ancestors.
Andean Rituals for Everyday Life
Introductory Seminar
This opening seminar introduces the foundations of Andean practice: gratitude, reciprocity and a conscious relationship with the natural world. Guided reflection, symbolic practice and an introductory ceremony offer a first, lived experience of these principles in everyday life.
It welcomes both those meeting this work for the first time and those already familiar with it.
The Haywarikuy Series
Three Seminars
Three seminars, each growing from the one before. You are welcome to attend them in sequence or individually.
I · Sacred Reciprocity in Contemporary Life
Where does exchange feel alive in our lives, and where has it lost its balance? This weekend explores Ayni, sacred reciprocity, as it lives in our relationships, and what may shift when giving and receiving are held within a larger whole.
Together, we create a Despacho of gratitude.
II · The Symbolic Language of the Offering
The Despacho speaks a symbolic language in which every element and gesture carries meaning. This weekend listens more closely to what an offering expresses: how its elements relate to the Andean cosmovision, how each layer corresponds to inner and outer life, and how symbolic thinking can deepen our attention in daily life.
Participants create a complete Despacho, exploring the relationship between symbol, intention and awareness.
III · An Offering for the Ancestors
A space to honour what has been passed down through the generations: the gifts, what remains unresolved, and what has not yet been named. Through reflection and ceremony, participants are invited to acknowledge what they carry, to offer gratitude to those who came before, and to create together a Despacho for the ancestors. This shared offering brings the series to its close.
